Neighborhood Watch Committee

June 9, 2008 - I have rec'd two alerts, one from the Garner PD, one from a neighbor about suspicous vehicles. Please be on the look out for Silver or Grey newer model small style pick up, Ford Ranger, Nissan or Chev S-10. The suspects are going into subdivisions around 1-3AM and breaking into vehicles. This is happening on the southside of Wake County. There have been only 2 B & E of vehicles reported since January 2008 in ER, NO house break-ins. The Eagle Ridge neighbor reported today seeing "young guys cruising the neighborhood in a white utility truck and two white vans, early in AM". This was forwarded to the GPD. As always, report anything unusual or suspicous immediately to #911, no matter how small an event!

Also, please report any illegal activity you may see at our pool immediately. Rumors are that there may be some drug dealing going on, if you see persons who do not belong there, or behave in suspicous manners, call #911 immediately! Thanks, be safe, be alert....

March 12, 2008 - There was some law enforcement activity on Inkster Cove last week. According to neighbors, there were officials from the Wake County Sheriff's Dept, DEA, and SBI. According to Wake County Sheriff's office, here is what they stated: "There was an on-going investigation that was brought to the conclusion of an arrest made at that location or residence".

The Block Captains are responsible for attending scheduled meetings with the Committee Chairperson(s), representing a given zone of the development, and disseminating information to their respective zones.

Tips for a successful Neighborhood Watch group:

  • Work with the police or sheriff’s office
  • Hold regular meetings
  • Canvass door-to-door to recruit members
  • Ask people who seldom leave their homes to be "window watcher," looking out for children and reporting any unusual activities in the neighborhood
  • Gather the facts about crime in the neighborhood
  • Watch groups are not vigilantes and should not assume the role of the police. Their duty is to ask neighbors to be alert, observant and caring – and to report suspicious activity or crimes immediately to the police.
